Luminaires by Regent Lighting perfectly complement the daylight-flooded architecture of the new Flexco Europe building.

Till Wäschle, the architect in charge of this project, was particularly impressed by the reduced formal language of LIGHTPAD. The freestanding luminaires by Regent Lighting offer limitless flexibility in the furnishing of contemporary office spaces.

Flexco Europe has taken into account the strong growth experienced in recent years. The international group's new headquarters in Rosenfeld comprises warehouse, production and office areas totalling over 10 000 m2.

The individual structures are directly connected to ensure short distances. "We wanted to design a building that was as simple and reduced as possible," Wäschle explains in the interview. With the use of few colours, shapes and materials, an economical, contemporary administrative building was to be created.

The architect opted for an architecture flooded with daylight and air. The all-glass facades of the administrative floors illustrate this. Floor-to-ceiling glass fronts on three sides of the building allow daylight to stream in. This concept is supported in the office areas by LIGHTPAD. "The aim was to find a luminaire that matches the reduced architecture of the building. LIGHTPAD by Regent Lighting speaks the same design language as the rooms: it is angular and slim and provides beautiful and optimal illumination of the workspaces. The incomparably flat luminaire head was particularly decisive," explains Wäschle. The use of freestanding luminaires also allows for unlimited flexibility in furnishing. Thanks to the hollow space floor in all office areas, workplaces can be arranged randomly, and LIGHTPAD can easily, quickly and flexibly be moved in accordance. In the warehouse and production areas, however, the TRAQ row lighting system is used. Thanks to the latest LED technology, it provides uniform, bright lighting with natural colour rendition. Finally, the MEDRA downlights blend beautifully and unobtrusively into the architecture, creating a calm, flat appearance of the suspended acoustically perforated ceilings.

You can recognise good light by the fact that you do not consciously notice it, says the architect. This goal was achieved in this project. The extensive use of freestanding luminaires in the office areas is appreciated. As is the case with good light, so is the case with good cooperation, says Till Wäschle: "The project support was always smooth and very pleasant. Everything went hand in hand and worked well, so I did not have to get involved much in the implementation of the lighting. I was able to rely completely on the specialist planning of the electrical engineering by the Becker planning office in Albstadt and, of course, on Regent Lighting."
