LIGHTPAD freestanding luminaires by Regent Lighting ensure flexible and efficient office lighting in the new building of bnNETZE GmbH, in compliance with the criteria of the German Sustainable Building Council DGNB (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen).

Vogt Architekten and the energy and environmental service provider badenova have already realised several joint building projects. For the new Administration Building 4 of the subsidiary bnNETZE GmbH, the architectural office has received the DGNB's highest award, Platinum, for the second time.

The exterior of Administration Building 4 is based on the existing buildings on the grounds of the Baden network operator, says Harry Vogt, the architect behind the innovative new building. So the innovation is hidden behind the façade: "While previous buildings had concentrated on individual and group offices, the focus of this project was clearly on trends related to New Work," explains Vogt. In the course of this structural change, the tendency goes back to using open-space offices. Compressed workspaces offer the possibility of creating areas for retreats, soundproof telephone booths as well as both large and small meeting rooms. Flexibility is also one of the new trends. Thanks to electrical supply through the cavity floor and modular partition walls, any office size can be realised. In order to be able to react flexibly to configuration changes in terms of lighting as well, the decision to go with freestanding luminaires was made at an early stage. "With its simple aesthetics and the additional flexibility provided by different luminaire head variants, the LIGHTPAD freestanding luminaire by Regent Lighting fits perfectly into the forward-looking architecture," emphasises Vogt.

The key feature of this project is the sustainability of the construction. Especially since over the decades, badenova has developed into a holistic energy supplier that places particular value on sustainable energies such as wind, water and photovoltaics, these company values should also be reflected in their buildings. Just like Administration Building 3 a few years earlier, this new building has now also been awarded the highest rating by the German Sustainable Building Council, Platinum. For example, the building materials used are completely recyclable at the end of the building's life cycle. The lighting design, taking into account the specifications of the DGNB, had clearly limited the choice of possible luminaires. However, LIGHTPAD remained in the running without any problems and was able to meet all the standards for Platinum certification in terms of sustainability. The management, facility management and construction department of bnNETZE, who have all moved into their new offices in Administration Building 4, give exclusively positive feedback and are satisfied with the pleasant lighting conditions.

The architect emphasises that he particularly appreciates the collaboration with Regent Lighting because of the personal contact and the direct support provided by designated contact persons. Vogt Architekten have been working with Regent Lighting for many years, just as they have with badenova: "The contact persons at Regent Lighting have always been available to us competently, for questions, for sample luminaires or for discussing initial designs. This human factor is very important to me personally," Harry Vogt emphasises.
