Fabian Kaiser

Operational processes

«Starting off was a challenge in itself, since I knew nothing about the sector. I was not familiar with the products, and only partly familiar with the technology, and all I knew about Regent's history was what I found on the homepage. I took over a very interesting but also highly complex portfolio, which comprised two application segments at the same time. It was very demanding», explains Fabian Kaiser.

After only six months he was representing Regent at its booth at the most important trade fair of the industry, the ‘Light & Building’ in Frankfurt am Main. In spring 2016, Regent took over the Swiss expert company for shop lighting, RD Leuchten. Here, Fabian Kaiser was given the task of integrating part of the products from RD Leuchten in the Regent product portfolio, and was responsible for almost everything from A to Z «from product definition, setting up the articles, forecast planning through to pricing».

After three years in product management he was offered the job of «Team Manager Customer Orders Centre» and Fabian Kaiser didn't hesitate for a moment to accept his first leading position. Again, an extremely demanding project awaited him. After numerous internal modernisation projects such as e.g. updating of the ERP system or conversion to Lean Production, it was now time to adapt and further optimise the delivery performance to the new circumstances.

«Even as a Product Manager I was always interested in understanding how each department and each process works, in order to gain a comprehensive overview of my own portfolio. Now, with the new role in the customer orders centre I have arrived at just this interface: Operative purchase, supply chain planning, logistics, production, quality and sales. Exactly who is responsible for what and when? We have completely re-structured the entire field, have worked out a clear task distribution, and have introduced a ticket system, a deadline conflict management process, a backlog management process and many other processes and procedures. The sales department must know exactly which products reach the customer in what time. And we want to keep improving.»

He is particularly interested in deliveries for large-scale projects. «We of course do everything we can to perfectly plan the operative process in advance and then to implement it on time exactly to the customer's specifications.»

Since three years, Fabian Kaiser accompanies the enterprise in a continuous change process. «I enjoy it. This change process means that I am constantly faced with new challenges, new opportunities for personal fulfilment. For the future of Regent I hope that this change process will continue and that we will always optimise our processes. We aim to expand our position in the market and that is only possible with the trust of our customers.»

Fabian Kaiser advises young career beginners to try to see things in a little more relaxed way: «Sometimes it is a good thing to simply lean back and look at things as you would watch a film at the cinema, and then decide how to proceed. That even helped me during my school years.» His success proves him right.
