Convention: light pollution, Zürich
25th January 2006
The energy technical society Electrosuisse, together with SLG, VSEI and GNI organised a convention about “Lighting in External Spaces:Technology, Maintenance and Design”.
Practicing experts from lighting, research and architecture paid serious attention to the different aspects of outside lighting with regard to the extensive light pollution.
The increased use of daylight under recirculating systems in deep underground buildings was also an important theme at the convention.
A very interesting and thought provoking lecture was given from René L. Kobler of the Institute for Environmental Technology at the “Fachhochscule” in Basel.
“Light pollution” has recently become a common word, even if people are not so conscious of the meaning and the effects it has on for humans and animals, when situated in the wrong place.
It’s important for the professional lighting sector, to act more rationally and sensibly for the environment by planning and installing new exterior luminaires.
With this in mind, it is therefore of the utmost importance, to plan and organise necessary training as soon as possible.
Nature doesn’t use us, but we use her; do we want survive?
